With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to mine. 

I wanted to talk about that special woman who helped paved the way for me with her audacity, her creativity and abounding imagination.

My mother is an extravagant woman who always knew how to make life less mundane with things as simple as a brushstroke on the lid or the tips of the fingers. She has this gift to amaze people around her, to brighten the days of people she loves in a myriad of ways. She always encouraged me to let my imagination run wild. 

I present her to you today in the way she inhabits my childhood memories. This emblematic image from the day she walked the runway for Paco Rabanne represents an important milestone in my artistic journey. That day, a big magical book made its way to our library, and then years later became a main piece on my coffee table. This book called Canned Candies presents Rabanne’s body of work, using jewelry as art pieces and it forever left a mark on my imagination. In that book lies the foundation of my creativity.
